The team had always invested time in having off-sites together. Sometimes these were task-orientated and sometimes more team-focused. We worked with the Chief Executive as well as individual leaders to craft experiences that would meet their needs at different stages of the change cycle. Making the most of the time this group had together, ensuring a restorative balance between analytical exploration, effective decision making, constructive relationship building and having fun to build social ties is always a challenge – but one that we relish!
We started working with UBM at the point at which they were embarking on a series of business transformation interventions. The global market for events is rapidly evolving and has become a sector with high levels of mergers and acquisitions.
A clear vision had been developed which drew together the two strands notably the building of stronger customer relationships and utilisation of new technology. Achieving these goals was going to require extensive change throughout the organisation. The senior leaders recognised the need to be a connected and supportive team for each other and their own teams around the world. Also that they were able to provide a clear and consistent message when engaging with people across different departments, working in different markets and with different experiences of organisational change.
